Bring to class everyday:
Textbook
Your Notebook
- Writing instrument
- A willingness to learn
Notebooks
95% of what you do in this class will be done in your notebook.-notes, warm ups, graphic organizers, reflections, etc. The notebook is a reflection of your work and effort while in this class. You alone are responsible for keeping up with assignments and making sure it is organized. Notebooks will occasionally be collected and awarded ‘free points’ for being organized and complete-don’t miss out! ☺
Warm-Ups
Each day, we will begin our class with a brief warm up activity. Oftentimes, the warm up will be a reflection of something that we have done in class or may be your opinion about an issue. Once the bell rings, everyone should be working on the assigned warm-up. I am not looking so much for your ‘correctness’, but your input and how well thought out your responses are. Each warm-up is started on a new page with the date and arm-up prompt copied on your notebook page. It should be a minimum of one paragraph.
Teams
Much of the work that will be completed in this class will be done in teams. As a member of a team, you will be assigned a specific role in the group-it is a team effort. You will take responsibility for your team’s behavior and learning.
Absences
If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get the assignments that you missed (or will miss). At an appropriate time, I will allow you to ask me or a classmate for assistance.
Electronics
I-pods, phones, etc. are not allowed in class-PERIOD.
Grading
Grades are not given, they are earned. Your grade reflects your effort. You (and you alone) are responsible for your grades. I will make every effort to let you know exactly what is expected of you on assignments so there are no surprises, but you must do your part.
- Keep all food and drinks, except for water, outside the classroom.
- Remain in your seat unless given permission.
- Students are expected to fully participate in class activities and assignments.
- Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and will be dealt with according to school and district behavior support policies.
